Microsoft’s Windows Live Search beta version is now online!

Windows Live Search

Overall, I think it looks pretty good but I still think most searches will prefer simplier approach Google uses.
Windows Live Search has a little bar in the top right corner that lets you display results in three different ways.

1. Titles and URL Only
2. Titles, URL and Descriptions
3. Titles, URL, Descriptions and a “search within this site” link under each result. This then lets you enter an additional keyword that will search only the results from the particular domain you have chosen. I found this to be a nice little feature!

There also are all kinds of Beta tools they are working on found here: http://ideas.live.com/

Seems like they are trying to play some catchup with Google. It reminds me of the Google Labs area.

MSN does have NEW ideas listed which I really like such as the Windows Live Custom Domains service (”All the benefits of a free MSNĀ® HotmailĀ® account with the distinction of a unique domain name.” I’ll blog about some over those other beta services at another time.

Looks like MSN is finally getting the ball rolling. At least they are trying and kudos to them for that!
