The guys over at CarCasher.com are holding a SEO Contest for the keyword “carcasherdotcom seocontest.”

The start date for this contest was February 1 2006 and the contest will end on December 31st 2006

In my opinion the contest length is to long (11 months) but nevertheless, there is a lot of participation in my opinion because of the monthly awarded cash prizes.

On the first of each month starting March 1 2006, they will pay $500 to the SEO, whose website is in the first place on Google for the conest keyword “carcasherdotcom seocontest.” First place in Yahoo! on the first of each month will be paid $200, and first place in MSN in the beginning of each month will be paid a $100 prize

SEO Contest Grand Prizes (1st place at the contest end date):

First Prize: #1 in Google for carcasherdotcom seocontest on December 31, 2006
$3,000 + 42″ Plasma TV + $12,000 SEO Contract for 2007

Second Prize: #1 in Yahoo! for carcasherdotcom seocontest on December 31, 2006
$2,000 + Sony PSP

Third Prize: #1 in MSN for carcasherdotcom seocontest on December 31, 2006
$1,000 + Apple iPod

“If datacenters show different results on the 1st of each month and more importantly on the 31st of December, 2006, the winner will be declared solely at the discretion of CarCasher.Com. If there are any disputes as to the validity of the winner declaration, CarCasher.Com will be the sole arbiter.”

In order to qualify for a prize, a webpage must include ONE of the following:
a) link to the rules of the contest http://www.carcasher.com/SEOContest/, OR
b) link to the www.carcasher.com homepage, OR
c) the following text (no link) We support CarCasher.Com

(hmm, those sound awefully familiar to the “v7ndotcom elursrebmem” SEO Contest which started before this one.

The carcasherdotcom seocontest SEO Contest has a sctrict set of Promotion Rules:

1. No dirty SEO techniques! (read Google Webmaster Guidelines)

I have to admit that I find that kind of funny as because the current winners have obviously broken a few of those. I think they posted that to try and get on Google’s nice side and not because they are actually going to enforce that. It would be somewhat hard to strictly enforce those set of guidelines which also include some self-interpretation.

2. If you are caught using any of the following: doorway pages, spam, hidden links, etc. will not qualify for the prize, and the prize will go to the next position.

What exactly does etc include? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think there is necessarily anything wrong with those quidelines it’s just that many people have there own interpretation of just what “etc” really means (what exactly stricly defined as black-hat or white-hat SEO).

3. Every website HAS TO HAVE an email address published ON THAT SITE so that nobody else can claim your prizes.

There were 1,050,000 results in Google as of March 8th 2006 for carcasherdotcom seocontest.

I think I covered most of it, but you can read more details of the contest here:
