In the past, I’ve always jumped over to Yahoo Finance which is a great financial information source.
Now I have little reason to visit Yahoo at all except to occasionally check on some search engine rankings.
Google Finance Beta is now live!
from Google Finance FAQ…
What is Google Finance?
Google Finance is an early beta product that offers a broad range of information about North American stocks, mutual funds and public and private companies along with charts, news and fundamental financial data. How is Google Finance different from existing financial websites?
Google Finance offers an easier way to search for stocks, mutual funds, public and private companies. Further, Google Finance also offers a broad range of company news and information in order to deliver more relevant, unbiased results in a clean, uncluttered user interface.
Here are some specific Google Finance features:
- Company Search
- Interactive Charts
- News and More News
- Blogs
- Company Management Team
- Discussion Groups
- Portfolios
It looks like Google is continuing their simple is better approach. Just compare the two home pages for the finance section.
It’s far less cluttered and has a great layout in my opinion.
Then compare the stock quote pages. I’ll use GOOG (the google stock ticker symbol).
GOOG in Google
GOOG in Yahoo
Again, Google has the better design layout IMO. In addition it has an awesome new feature!
Click on the letter next to the news Headlines and it will show on the stock chart the price of a share of Google at the time of that particular news release. Very Cool!
Great job so far Google. What do you think?
